The Sun That Never Sleeps, Midnight Sun Reflections

This series was created in 2017, during my one month long summer artist residency in Iceland. I was fascinated by the midnight sun, and the ethereal feeling of 24/7 lightness. I wanted a way to bring home the midnight sun. I took photographs of the landscape and then printed them with the sun in the middle of the night. Layering on top, and painting in the landscape during hours I don’t often work. Time felt unreal and I wanted to capture the feeling of this liminal space.
