Recollection

As humans, we are collectors. We have collections of objects as well as collections of memories. What if I were to tell you that they were one in the same?

This body of work serves as a metaphor and explanation of the physical objects that we use to recollect memorable experiences.

Souvenirs are something common and we only feel the need to obtain souvenirs from experiences that are unrepeatable.

The objects we own become us. They serve as external hard drives for us; storing our memory outside of ourselves.

Recollection is a series of wooden sculptures with laser engraved drawings that represent my rock collection- my souvenirs from unrepeatable travels. This body of work focuses highly on how we decontextualize nature and the immense amount of sentimentality we are capable of attaching to our physical objects.
